Centenary District Activity Camp14 - 16 September 2007Well, WoW! another fantastic weekend on Ranmore - the sun shone, fires were lit, walls were climbed, there was a tea party (complete with presents), prizes were won, songs were sung. arrows were fired, sausages and dampers were cooked, tilley lamps were lit, hike tents were pitched, orienteering was completed, car tyres were changed, bike wheels were taken off and put back on again (and punctures mended) - all in all a fantastic weekend and thanks to everyone who helped make it such a success! We started with a night hike on Friday for the Scouts (12th, 18th and 24th all camped) and the Explorers. Saturday and Sunday were Passport Challenges: each Scout and Explorer had a passport which got stamped and points awarded when they completed an activity - the Scouts and Explorers with the most points won prizes on the Sunday. On Saturday afternoon the Beavers and Cubs were transported up the hill from Dorking to Ranmore in the Brockham Bus - and they too went through Check Point Charlie and received their passports and then had loads of fun completing lots of activities. Their afternoon finished with a tea party (it was a birthday after all) and a campfire -whilst the Scouts cooked and ate their dinners then got organised for a wide game and campfire. Saturday evening saw presentations to Di and Bernard Moore, from the County Commissioner (Richard Shortman) and Graham Edser (12th Dorking) from Deputy County Commissioner (Philip Currie) |
