Young Leaders are Explorer Scouts who are aged between 14 and 18 who help out with one of the younger sections, as part of their Explorer Scouting.  They are members of the District Young Leaders Unit which meets to deliver the training modules which make up the Young Leaders Training Programme, this ensures that the Young Leaders are able to work effectively in the section they choose.

Young Leaders may belong to the Explorer Scout Unit,  or they may decide to do their Explorer Scouting entirely as a Young Leader.

Becoming a Young Leader in a Beaver Colony, Cub Pack or Scout Troop can also count as the service towards Chief Scouts Awards, Queens Scout Award and Duke of Edinburgh Awards. Click here for information on what you have to do to complete the service section for your Award.

If you have a Young Leader in your Section then do download the new factsheet to help you - click here for yours!

There are resources available for Young Leaders - click here to find out more and to download your free Young Leader inserts which fits in the back of your Navigator.
